Prepare for Getting Involved on Campus

Students who attend inclusive postsecondary education programs have many opportunities to get involved on campus. You can start preparing for campus living by getting involved and making connections with people in your community. Below are some ways you can get involved in your high school or community to help you prepare for college.

Most high schools have student clubs or organizations that help students learn new skills and explore their interests. Find a club that matches your interests or join a club where you can explore something new!

Most communities have organizations such as YMCAs; advocacy organizations; bowling leagues; church, synagogue, mosque, or temple groups; library teen groups; chess clubs; community center art classes; and sports leagues. Joining organizations like these can help you identify your interests and build connections with people in your community.

Jackson

As a college student, Jackson sharpened his percussion skills in two campus-based jazz and world music ensembles and served an internship at Kauffman Performing Arts Center. Now a junior, Jackson’s major is in art and theatre. He’s exploring ways to blend the two in a career.
